Tony Suckerman, representing the Talia Trust at today's Haifa Stair Race (often referred to as the Haifa Stair Challenge), early this morning Friday, June 5.

Haifa Steps Challenge is a rugged, uphill fitness event.

Instead of a traditional flat road race, this challenge leverages Haifa's famous mountain geography.

The Route and the Challenge

The event flips the usual tourist path upside down. While most people prefer to descend Haifa’s historic stairways to take in the views, participants in this challenge does the exact opposite:

• The Starting Point: The race kicks off downtown at Paris Square (Kikar Paris) in the Lower City.

• The Climb: Runners push their way straight up Mount Carmel, conquering roughly 1,000 to 1,100 stone steps connecting the city's stacked neighborhoods.

The Finish: The grueling vertical climb wraps up at the top of the mountain near Carmel Center, rewarding finishers with a panoramic view of the Haifa Bay (and a massive leg burn). Fantastic Effort!!

Congratulations and thank you Tony.
